Last semester most of our texts referred to fortune.
Unfortunately I have not had the chance to explore the notion of fortune
This semester the texts raise notions about advantage.
I am struck by Darwin's constant phrasing, about facts "without a doubt"
Last semesters texts seem to be pondering ideas and putting forth ideas.
With Darwin we are moving towards factual knowledge.
Questioning "how do we know what we know?"
How do we know that our sources know what they know and are correct?
Ripley's "Believe it or Not" museum presents information and leaves it to the viewer to "believe it or not"
We witnessed the dilemmas of an inconvenient truth in "Enemy of The People"
The people in power not wanting to believe or choosing to ignore what they were being told even though it was backed by science because profit and reputation came first.
The advantage for the doctor would have been lots of sick people to cure but that was not his value system.
