We questioned last night what the modern term for virtue is; since virtue is not a common term in 2012

The definition of virtue is 'Moral Excellence'

Needless to say this is a hot topic for religion as seen in a google search; Christianity, Islam, Mormons;  all have something to say about it

Christianity; self control, knowledge, perseverance

A search for secular moral excellence surfaces opinions from humanists and atheists

Common moral decencies are; altruism, integrity, honesty,truthfulness and responsibility

Morality can be arrived at through a deity or from personal compassion and empathy

Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit. We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts
